1.1 We take your privacy seriously and this policy (Privacy Policy) sets out how we will handle your personal data securely and in accordance with your rights.

1.2 Sterling Furniture Group Limited (we, us, our) is a registered data controller under the terms of data protection legislation, and we are responsible for protecting the personal data we gather about you. 2.1 This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect about you when you visit our stores, visit our site, register to use our site, place an order with us, interact with us on social media, complete a questionnaire, enter one of our competitions or apply for a role with us and how we handle your information to ensure that we protect your rights. 

2.2 Please read this Privacy Policy carefully to understand how we will treat your personal data. In this Privacy Policy, references to you or your mean you as a user of www.sterlinghome.co.uk and our social media pages (our sites) and/or as the purchaser of our goods or services (our services).

2.4 By using our sites, registering to use our services, interacting with us on social media, or placing an order for our goods or services you will be regarded as having accepted the terms of this Privacy Policy. 3.1 Registration:When you register to use our services and/or our sites we may ask you to provide certain information.

3.2 Placing an order:When you place an order for goods (whether online or in-store) we will request your name, billing address, delivery address, email address, contact number, company name (if relevant), and payment details. If you do not provide us with the fields which are marked with an asterisk in the order form we will not be able to process your order. You do not need to fill in the fields which do not have an asterisk (such as your company name) but it will help us to process your order if you do. Where you are placing an order online, our website will work best if you sign up for an account with us rather than checking out as a guest as for example, we will be able to display details of your previous orders.

3.3 Our sites:When you visit our sites or place an order we may also collect information on an ongoing basis about what pages you access or visit, and information about your use of our sites, for example, the pages viewed, the website from which you came to visit our sites, changes you make to information you supply to us, details of the quotes you request and your transactions, including by use of cookies Privacy Policy.

3.4 Job applications: If you apply for a job advertised on our website, we will collect personal information provided to us from your covering letter and CV, or from your completed job application form.

3.5 CCTV: When you visit one of our stores, your image may be captured on our CCTV system.

3.6 Customer Feedback: When you complete a customer feedback questionnaire, we may collect your name and contact details, as well as the information you provide to us regarding your opinion of our services in the questionnaire.

 

 

 

 

4.1 We may use your information for the following purposes:

4.1.1 in the normal course of our business, to allow us to register you to receive our services and to provide you with our services on the basis that processing is necessary in order to perform our contract with you to provide our services;

4.1.2 to allow us to manage your account on the basis that processing is necessary in order to perform our contract with you to provide our services;

4.1.3 to store your data to pre-populate fields to make it easier for you to provide information when you return to our sites on the basis that you have consented to such processing separately;

4.1.4 to communicate with you, where you have consented to receive communications or by sending you information about products and services which we think may be of interest to you. We will not send you marketing if you have opted out of receiving marketing. You will be able to opt-out of such communications at any time by using the unsubscribe option on email communication from us, by contacting us using our Contact Us form, or by managing your account preferences;

4.1.5 to validate your information (and, in some cases, match it against information that has been collected by a third party such as 192.com) to check that the data we hold about our customers/users is accurate, consistent, and up to date on the basis that processing is necessary in order to perform our contract with you to provide our services;

4.1.6 in the case of CCTV, images captured using our CCTV system may be processed for the prevention and detection of crime;

4.1.7 information provided to us through customer feedback questionnaires is collected for our legitimate business interests of identifying improvements in our service offering;

4.1.8 to process your competition entry and, if you are the winner, to be able to send you the prize from the competition; and

4.1.9 to comply with any legal obligations to which we are subject.

4.2 We shall periodically check that the personal data we store for you is accurate. If you would like to update the personal data we hold about you, please contact us by using our Contact Us form. The information will be provided free of charge except where excessive, repeated, or duplicate requests are made. In such a case a fee to cover the costs of administration will be made. Such information will generally be provided electronically or by mail within one month of the request.

4.3 The provision of the information fields marked with an asterisk in the order form is mandatory if you are to receive our services. If you fail to provide such data we shall be unable to provide our services. Store refunds require the following information in order to process the refund; Full Name, Full Address, and Postcode which matches your card billing address.

5.1 In order to deliver services to you, we are required to share your personal data with our service providers, suppliers, and third-party partners, who process and store data on our behalf and only in accordance with our instructions in compliance with data protection laws. This includes the suppliers we rely on to provide an effective website such as our customer review, courier, formal hire, and website platform service providers. More information regarding these suppliers can be provided on request.

5.2 We may also share your personal data with third parties:

5.2.1 in the event that we, our business, or substantially all of its assets are acquired by a third party (in which case personal data about customers will be one of the transferred assets) - if this happens, you will be notified;

5.2.2 if we are under a duty to disclose or share your personal data in order to comply with any legal obligation, or in order to enforce or apply any contract with you; or to protect our rights, property, or safety of our employees, customers, or others. This includes exchanging information with other companies and organisations for the purposes of fraud protection and credit risk reduction; and

5.2.3 where we are required to process your online order with payment service providers.

6.1  we only store your personal data for as long as necessary for the purpose required. Where you have an order with us and in doing so have provided your personal information, we will retain your data for 6 years plus current, otherwise known as 6 years + 1.

7.1 Right to be Informed: You have the right to be informed about the collection and use of your personal data.

7.2 Right of Access: You have the right to access and receive a copy of your personal data.

7.3 Right of Rectification: You have the right to have inaccurate personal data rectified, or completed if it is incomplete.

8.1 We are committed to using your personal data fairly and would like you to be aware of the following:

8.1.1 We may transfer or store your data out with the EEA – further information about this is set out in section 11 below;

8.1.2 When you interact with us on social media each social media platform will have its own privacy policy; and

8.1.3 If you visit  us in-store please be aware that we have CCTV in operation to ensure the safety and security of our premises, staff and customers.

 

9.1 We will treat all of your information in strict confidence and we will endeavour to take all reasonable steps to keep your personal data secure once it has been transferred to our systems.  We adopt appropriate data collection, storage, and processing practices and security measures to protect against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction of your personal data, and data stored on the website/app and associated database.

9.2 All online purchases made through our site are done so using the latest internet security technology to protect our customers. We encrypt your entire transaction including your credit card information to ensure your purchases with us are private and protected. Our online transactions are processed using Stripe (stripe.com/gb) which is fully PCI DSS compliant.

9.3 All in-store purchases are processed by ClearAccept (clearaccept.com), FiServ (www.fiserv.com), Verifone (www.verifone.com) or Worldline (www.worldline.com) which are all fully PCI DSS compliant.

10.1 We may need to transfer your information outside of the United Kingdom (UK) to service providers in countries where data protection laws may not provide the same level of protection.

10.2 We will only transfer your personal data outside the UK where either:

10.2.1 the transfer is to a country which the UK has decided ensures an adequate level of protection for your personal data; or

10.2.2 we have conducted assessments and put in place appropriate measures to ensure adequate security of your personal data as required by UK data protection law.
